It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS!

It's been an absolute age since I posted a blog last, i do apologise :(

Firstly, Merry Christmas!!!!

The boy and I went to Egypt for a week at the start of December, sadly we got food poisoning on the 2nd day and spent the whole time in our room. It's taken us a few weeks to recover, but we're pretty much back to normal now-just in time for Christmas! The hotel booked us into their a la carte restaurant on our last night, it was lovely but we were too poorly to eat much :( Here's a nice photo of us though:

Anywho, what with all the snow and being ill, I was feeling quite bah humbug about Christmas, but I woke up today feeling quite festive :D

I've been gathering prezzies for people over the last 6 weeks, so now it's just the last minute rush to get odds and ends to complete everyone's prezzies.  I'm still waiting for 2 things I ordered online so I'm eagerly watching out the window, hoping for my lovely postman to bring them today.

How are you all doing with your prezzie shopping? Are you all done or are you like me and still rushing about?

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Glamour Magazine

I'm sure most of you know by now, but for those of you who don't
Glamour Magazine has a freebie this month!
a full size bottle of Nails Inc. nail polish!

I picked up a copy today, my chosen shade is hampstead heath
It's hard to describe this shade, it's a bit red, a bit purple, but very gorgeous!
I shall be painting my nails with it tonight with the hope I receive lots of comments at work tomorrow.

There are 4 shades on offer, but there were only 2 in the shop I went in. Hampsted heath and a pale bubblegum pink. I decided against this one as I've a million pink nail varnishes and it wasn't as pastel in colour as I'd have liked. Judging by the picture on the cover, the other 2 shades look like a mushroom colour and a dark purple/black?
If I see these, I may well just pick up a few more copies of the mag!

Has anyone bought Glamour mag this month?

Avon 8 in 1 eye palette review

A few weeks ago I put my order in for the natural shades Avon 8 in 1 eye palette. I've not had a chance to review it up until now, so here goes;

It comes in a nice sized compact, which is small enough to put in your make up bag, but big enough to be practical to use on the go and with 2 double ended application sponges (apologies for the bad quality pictures)

The compact also has a good sized mirror, which for me is very handy as I'm always losing my handbag mirror.

I've tried to show you the colours, but my camera is playing up. As you can (just about) see, the colours are quite shimmery, but they're not too sparkly once blended in. I've been wearing the lighter shades for work all week and saving the medium shades for a bit more definition in the afternoon/evening. The darkest shade is a little too dark for me so I don't think it'll get much wear other than blending for definition.

Bracelet:Pandora leather lariat with heart charm

I really do like this palette, and for £5, it's quite the bargain!

Graze (review)

I've been pondering the idea of ordering a box from Graze for a while now, so when i saw on Imogen's blog that she gave us a code for a free box and the next one half price, I jumped at the chance!

I signed up to the site, which was really quick and easy -even for technophobes like moi! It's great, you get to pick the things you love, like, are willing to try or that are a big no no. (No olives please, but dried fruit and nuts <3)

I picked my box to arrive on Wednesday (today) and my lovely postman popped it through my letter box and there it was, sitting in my porch! :D

I love the idea that they go that extra mile to make it personal, my name is on the booklet, and included is a leaflet with what's in your box and all the nutritional numbers.

As you can see, Edward is also interested in my Graze box :)
I love this concept of Graze, you can have it delivered to your office or place of work to stop you snacking on biscuits. I had mine delivered at home, as I know my work collegues would try and pinch my yummy new snacks haha :p

I really reccommend Graze if you're wanting to eat abit healthier, or even just to try. Some healthy eating plans deny you of all treats, but these boxes work on the concept that you can have 80% healthy, 20% treat so I don't feel guilty that my nuts are frosted with honey and my cranberries are dipped in yoghurt ;)
I was kindly given a code to share with my friends so you can enjoy a free box, and then your second box half price!

Use code: 5J9KFNR3 and enjoy!

Happy Halloween!

Did everyone have a good weekend?
Of course, it was Halloween ^_^ time to goth it up and eat sweeties!

(how cute is that!! found on interwebs)

In past years, I've spent Halloween with friends and had a party.
Last year I spent it in Shepherd Bush Empire watching Fightstar! Which was the most amazing gig with everyone, including them, dressed up and dancing about! Getting the tube home at 1am with vampires, ghouls, skeletons and pumpkins was so much fun!

This year I spent it with my boy <3
He'd never carved a pumpkin before, he told me!
YOU'VE NEVER CARVED A PUMPKIN BEFORE!!!! was my reaction!
So off I toddled to Asda and picked up some pumpkins, they were only £1! Bargain! I also picked up a little carving kit too with a scraper and a little saw which made carving really easy. I used to spend hours trying to carve a face out with a blunt knife when I was younger.

These were our creations:

  WooooOOOOoooo!!

We also made a delicious roast lamb dinner, but as always, they take hours to make and seconds to demolish! I've been brought up helping make food so I'm quite the chef when I put my mind to it, and I'm very lucky to have a boy who enjoys cooking as much as I do and he's very good at it (if not better-but don't tell him that :p)

Whilst he was trimming the meat and making it yummy with garlic and rosemary, I whipped up some biscuit dough, and we made these yummy creations:

They started out as Halloween biscuits, but due to a lack of cutters and imagination, we ended up with hearts, moons, a strange shaped bat and ghosts. They tasted very yummy indeed!

Enough waffling from me,
I have a dental appointment in a few hours as I chipped my tooth (on a bacon sandwich :s ) at the weekend so I'm trying not to flap and worry, but I hate hate hate the dentist and I'm so worried I'll loose my tooth and ruin my smile!
Keep calm and carry on, as they say! :/

Ed's Diner

My lovely boyfriend took me out to dinner last night
"Anywhere you want, your choice" he says!
So after some serious thought (one cannot make dinner choice lightly) I decided on Ed's Diner, our nearest one being in Lakeside shopping centre which is just up the road from us.

We trotted into Lakeside, up to the food court and were seated in a booth!! in the diner. It's such a lovely place, little juke boxes filled with 60's music to pick from at every table (cue Ricky and I wiggling along to all the songs)

I had a yummy cheeseburger, which was so big that it came in a little paper bag to keep it all in! Ricky had a HUGE burger with bacon, a hash brown, fried egg and lord knows what else! The hash brown is so big it comes over the side so he cut me off my own little bit (to test it isn't poison, of course :p ) yummy!
We shared a bowl of chippies, onion rings and a milkshake <3

The milkshakes are DIVINE, we had strawberry but they do lots of others including peanut butter, which I hear is lush.

Sadly I ate too much yummy burger and chips to even attempt a glance at the ice cream menu :(
note to self: save room for yummy ice cream next time!

Is there an Ed's Diner near you?
I really recommend going in for a burger, it's so cosy in there and I just love the Diner decor. I took my grandad there for his 80th birthday a few months back, and they were so good, putting balloons on our table and putting up with 8 of us all being pests ^_^
Just need to think of another excuse to go now :p

Avon 8 in 1 eye Palette in neutral

I've loved Avon products since I was a little girl, my mother was an Avon lady throughout my childhood and I was forever raiding her box of samples and stealing bright red shades of the tiny lipstick.
See how cute they are!

I was flicking through my catalogue earlier, looking for impulse purchases and Hello Kitty items when I came across this;
I think it looks very similar to the Urban Decay Naked Palette, which I've had my eye on but sadly my purse wont allow it :( luckily the Avon palette is currently only £5 so I've decided to give it a go.
It also comes in another array of colours, but I gave up on blue eyeshadow a long time ago so I shall stick to the neutral shades for now.

I've also ordered a very cute Hello Kitty Umbrella for £6, I've been putting it off in the hope that if I don't have a brolley then it might not rain..but after a rainy weekend in London with a scarf over my head, I've decided to give up and get one.

Superdrug Vibrance Maroon Red 6.45 Review

I've had pink hair for as long as I can remember, but sadly all the years of bleaching my naturally brown hair to a near white has taken it's toll, leaving it VERY thin and fragile. So after having a fair few inches cut off the end, and a fringe cut in, i bravely took the step to dye my hair near to my natural brown in the hope that I will leave it alone and let it strengthen and grow.

I was kidding myself.. I can't leave my hair alone :p
I've been dying it since I was 11, starting out with Shaders and Toners semi permanent packets, then moving onto brighter reds and purples once I'd reached higher years of secondary school. By the time I'd got to college and was allowed to have my hair as i liked, out came the bleach and neon colours!

I'm 24 now and as much as I love my pink hair, I worry it'll fall out and I'll be bald by the time I'm 30!
I dyed my hair a medium brown colour, which is as close to my natural colour as I can remember and I just wasn't happy with it. I needed something a little different to jazz it up a tad.

While I was in Superdrug, I spotted a new range of hair colours 'Superdrug Vibrance' and at the moment, they are £2.49!
I purchased Maroon Red 6.45 applied it to dry hair and left for 25 mins wrapped up in an old towel. While I was washing it out, my hair felt very dry and I was a little worried, but after using the intense conditioner that comes in the box, I've been left with amazingly soft, shiny, glossy hair.
It's not too much of a dramatic change, but subtle hint of red, that really shines in the light.

For £2.49, you really can't go wrong!

Has anyone else used this range of dyes? I think they're new as I've not seen them before I purchased it a few weeks ago.

Angela Langford Review

Recently I saw on the lovely Jo's blog, a mention about Angela Langford products. I had a little lookit at the website and applied for a free sample, and after a few questions I was shown products to suit my skin type.

I had forgotten all about it, until a few days ago an envelope popped through my door, containing this lovely little package:

I was sent 3 products, a cleanser, toner and moisturiser, 3 leaflets explaining what each product contained and how to use it, and a hand written letter from Angela herself asking me to let her know how I got on with her products. I really appreciate the personal touch when you order products, so already I was very impressed, and the pink mesh and ribbon looks beautiful too.

I had time this morning so decided today was the day I would try out these products. I have sensitive skin that reacts badly to most perfumed products, so when using these, I was a little wary of the strong smells, but so far, so good!
The smells were beautiful though and I'd decided to enjoy them, reaction or not! Each product features many high quality, and where possible, organic essential oils which I read all about on the leaflets and you could smell the quality of the oils used as the fragrances were gorgeous.

I used 'Sweet Cheeks' first, a clear serum to cleanse skin. A few pumps of the cute bottle was all I needed, this applied really well and washed off easily, leaving a lovely smell of roses on my skin.

Next I used 'Freshen up' which was a toner spray that I applied to a cotton pad and wiped over my skin. This left my skin feeling really soft and refreshed.

Sadly, the little pump had broken on the 'Balancing Act' moisturiser, so I had to pry it open and dip my finger in, but no matter :) The leaflet said to only use a few pumps of this product, sceptical me thought I'd need lots more, but how wrong was i! I dipped my finger in the pot and this was enough to moisturise my whole face and leave it feeling so soft!
I don't think my skin has ever felt this soft, I'm actually amazed and keep stroking my face ha ha.
It's not often I can enjoy products with a fragrance, but these have suited my skin perfectly.

I can thoroughly recommend Angela Langford products and urge you to go to her website, have a look around and order your free sample to try them out for yourself!

False Eyelashes

I'm not really one for day to day wearing of false eyelashes, I have very little patience in applying them, and worry that they'll look a bit OTT for work.

Not your typical librarian:

However, for special nights out I do like to flutter my lashes.
I've purchased various sets over the years, which I've found great-but pricey.

I had a gander on eBay and found that there are sellers in HongKong that will ship 10 PAIRS!!! for around £1.50
Well I thought, even if they're rubbish, it's worth a try and who know, might even get a bargain!

I purchased 10 pairs of 'thick volume' false lashes, and a week later these popped through my door. They didn't come with glue but I have some from previously bought kits so not to worry :) Off to the mirror i skipped and applied my new lashes!

WOW! They're fab!
Not quite as strong and robust as those you'd buy for a few £'s more..but I'm sure if you looked after them, you'd get a few wears out of each pair. Also, I'm not fussed as I have 10 pairs for less than the price of 1!

I'm so impressed with them that I've purchased 10 pairs of the 'natural' lashes and expect Mr postman to bring them to me any day now, so maybe I have been converted; expect a fluttery librarian from now on.

Photos to follow :)

DVD and Magic Stars..what more can a girl ask for?

As i'm working early tomorrow, the boyfriend has decided to abandon me this evening, opting for a lay in at his place in the morning :( So i'm left alone for tonight, with a DVD and a half eaten bag of magic stars that he left here last week, that I have taken ownership as his punishment.

I had a choice of DVDs: Leap Year, Remember Me and Nanny McPhee.
The boyfriend is very lovely and doesn't complain too much when I make him sit through a rom com, but I thought i'd spare him this time and watch this one with my new chocolatey friends

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Amy Adams, ever since I saw her in Enchanted she has become my favourite actress and have watched every film she's been in. I hope this one is just as good :D

Have you seen it?

What are your plans for tonight? Have fun whatever you do!

Models Own colours

Hello there
:D

I've finally gotten around to taking pictures of the gorgeous nail polishes I purchased in the Models Own 50% off sale! 10 in total, plus a top coat :D

I placed a second order, after seeing how lovely my items were in my 1st package, I just HAD to go back for more, it seemed criminal to let the sale pass without purchasing more lovely polishes! This is a pic of everything I bought:

Lots of lovely items, i'm sure you'll agree. Now on to the nails:

Jade Stone-Beth's Blue-Lemon Meringue-Peach Sherbet-Peacock Green

I adore Jade Stone and Beth's Blue, they painted on really well and covered evenly with 1 coat, but I gave them 2 to be on the safe side. Lemon and Peach took 3 coats and still looked patchy, however this is common with pastels. Peacock Green is a gorgeous shade, my camera doesn't pick up just how colourful it is.
I wore Jade to work and within 5 mins I'd had a few comments on where I'd gotten it from.
The next day I wore Beth's Blue and got even more comments throughout the day!
However I've had Peach on for 3 days, and not 1 comment :(

Red Alert-Sophie's Pink-Raspberry Crush-Nude Beige-Top Turquoise

Red Alert is the most gorgeous shade of red, it covered very well, only took 1 coat to give a really bright colour, but I did use 2. The pink is a little too neon for my liking, it doesn't look quite this bright in the bottle..but I like it. Raspberry Crush is a nice alternative to red, it's deep in colour but had lovely pink/purple undertones to it. Nude Beige is a much loved shade of many people, and I am one of those, it's a really nice neutral shade that looks fab! Top turquoise is a lovely shade of blue/green, definitely a favourite of mine!

The majority of the nail varnishes covered extremely well, and I was very surprised at how quick they dried, 2 coats and a top coat were touch dry within minutes and smudge proof in less than 10! I've spent many an hour flapping my arms about to try and dry my nails, only to smudge and have to re paint. Models Own allowed me to paint it on and spend my time admiring the colour.

I'm having trouble picking my favourite, but I think it'll have to be Beth's Blue:

I wish I'd have bought more in the 50% off sale, having looked at other people's reviews, I'd have liked to have bought a pale pink, and some of the glitters, maybe a purple shade. I have the Barry M lilac, but the Models Own looks gorgeous!

I also purchased a blusher, a retractable brush and a blending eye shadow brush, which I'm so pleased with. The blush gives a lovely colour to my cheeks, applied perfectly with the brush. I wish I'd have bought the brush set rather than just 1 of the eye shadow set.

Hopefully they'll have another sale on sometime, I might just be rich enough to buy everything then :p

at £5 a pop, these nail varnishes aren't all that cheap compared to the likes of Barry M, but the pot is a fair size and the coverage and drying speed are well worth the price tag! I shall be repurchasing a few of the shades from Boots, I'm sure!

Did anyone else indulge in the sale and get anything special?

Models Own Order

A HUGE thank you to Models Own for shipping out my order so fast!
Ordered it on Monday, got it today (Friday)

I rushed home from work today to find my parcel had arrived!
It came in a lovely black box with my delivery note in a gorgeous black envelope and my polishes all bubblewrapped up!

My sister and I excitedly opened each packet and gazed at the gorgeous colours:

I shall take some pictures later of the colours, my sister has volunteered herself to test them all out (how kind of her)
I purchased the lip and cheek tint aswell as polishes, however it's turned into more of a finger stain as i blended the colour into my lips with my finger and it's made it a lovely pinkcolour. EEK!

Perfume

What's your favourite scent?

I have been wearing Miss Dior Cherie for the last 6 months or so, and sadly my bottle is starting to run very low :(
It's such a gorgeous bottle, with a cute little bow on and the smell is so lovely-quite sweet but a slight cherry/vanilla hint to it. My boyfriend loves it :)

I was out and about last week in Boots and the nice lady gave me a sample of Vera Wang's Princess. GOSH it's gorgeous! I'm sure I've smelt it before and not been keen, but I've been wearing the scent all day and i cant stop smelling my wrist. The bottle looks lovely-not quite as lovely as my Dior, but it's nice all the same:
So I find myself in a bit of a predicament, which one do I buy?!
Ideally I'd like both..but I've seen a pair of shoes I want in Schuh.. so my money this month will go on them hehe

Do you have a preference..or can you throw another scent into the mix and change my mind?
Also, I've seen a website- cheapsmells.com, they seem to have good reviews and the Vera Wang perfume quite cheap. Has anyone ever used this site? Or can you recommend another place to buy perfume cheap? I usually wait for department stores to have a 10% off day, but this site is even cheaper :D

I look forward to your comments,
(please comment, I'd really like some feedback)

Lush Big shampoo review

The boyfriend and I were mooching around Lush at the weekend, when I spotted Big shampoo. I have read reviews of it before, and it's always made me wonder how salt can lather into a shampoo?!

I asked one of the girls there if I could have a little sample to try at home, and off i trotted home with my little pot to try:

I played with it in my hand for abit, smooshing the salt about, still wondering how it could possibly be a shampoo? It lathered really well though, i'm still surprised! I used it twice, the second time the lather was much easier to achieve being on clean hair. I only needed to use a small amount, I have another 2 washes out of my small pot i'd imagine.

The smell is lovely, not at all salty like i'd have thought, really subtle and slightly sweet. Just be careful when washing it off..it tastes salty :s

Big left my hair feeling squeeky clean, I really felt like it had removed all the product build up from my hair and left it nice and clean.
I bleach my hair and dye it pink, the main reason i asked for a sample before buying it was that I find many shampoo's strip my hair of the colour and I was worried being salt, that this would do the same, but I can honestly say that this has not removed any of the colour, and has left me with gloriously shiney, silky smooth hair :D

Do excuse my no make up state, i'm having a lazy day today ^_^

I currently use Daddy-O shampoo, but i'm tempted to buy myself a pot of this next time I find myself near a Lush store.

Hummingbird Bakery -Soho-

Have any of you ever seen the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook?

It's delightful, and is full of such yummy treats to make. I bought the book a few weeks ago after spotting it at work and upon finding out there were 3 bakerys in London, I pestered my boyfriend to take me.

So at the weekend, he and I took a trip Londontown, with the promise i'd let him look in a computer store if he let me go to the bakery. It wasn't hard to find, just a few minutes walk from Tottenham Court Road tube station. It was only small, but amazing inside :) Full of gorgeous cupcakes and brownies and layered cakes. I stood staring at the counter of cakes for a few minutes just trying to take it all in.

Having seen pictures of the cupcakes in the cookbook, I already knew which one I wanted
-red velevet-
and boy, it was lovely! light and fluffy, yet rich and just yummmm!

I felt cruel digging my fork into it and ruining such a beautifully crafted cake, but curious to see what all the fuss was about and hunger getting the better of me, i delved in to find a gorgeous rich red sponge

I did manage to let the boyfriend have a small taste, and he agreed that it was wonderful. Then an awful thing happened :P

It all vanished :(
hehe

Hummingbird Bakery = WOW
10/10

Has anyone ever been there? Which other cakes should I try?
I feel I MUST visit the other 2 bakerys, for the interest of research ofcourse :D

My first ever blog ^_^

Hi,

Welcome to my world,

I'm really not sure how to introduce myself. So i'll start at the beginning :)

My name is Laura, i'm 23 and live in Essex, England (just outside London)
I've been looking on here at some beautiful people posting reviews and pictures and i'd really like to be involved so here I am, trying to do that.

Everyone's pages look so cute, mine is the generic pink layout, so if anyone could offer me some help, that'd be great! I'm going to have a think about what kind of things I want to post on here, I'd like it to be as good as some of the other lovely people's blogs on here, im the hope of meeting some new friends to share tip with and have a girlie chat.

Maybe i'll start with a review?
I'm off to Lakeside in half hour, so i'll be on the look out for something lovely to tell you all about

(I say all, is anyone even reading this?)

If you are, do say hi :)

Laura Jane
