eBay

Am I the only one that does this?

Scour eBay for things I convince myself I need, place a reasonable bid with a hope I'll win, but also a slight hope that someone outbids me, then when you get the email to say YOU WON, you think oh, I don't think I actually wanted that.

I've just become the new owner of some foxylocks extensions. I've wanted some for a while but couldn't justify the cost, but thanks to eBay I managed to get some for a bit less. They're a lot lighter than my hair colour but that's nothing a box of hair dye can't fix. I just feel a little pang of guilt at spending so much money on something I don't actually need, seeing as i've been doing so well on my spending ban..until now.

Ah well, we all need our treats, eh?

Has anyone else splashed out on something naughty this week?

Models Own

I'm sure I wasn't the only one to take advantage of the recent 50% off sale from Models Own last week. I fell head over heels in love with MO last year after picking up a red polish on a whim and being so impressed with how well it went on, how fast it dried and how long it stayed chip free for.

My sister and I decided that we'd club together and order a few beauties:

I did get utopia too, I'm currently wearing it on my nails and can't remember which 'safe place' I've put the bottle, so picture to follow. My sister and I also picked up a few brushes and she got an eyeshadow but they're also in the same 'safe place'
I'm so impressed with MO, they had a few technical problems but I was lucky that my order went through 1st time and was with me a few days later. I think if it hadn't gone through and I'd had to re order, my haul would have been twice as big!

I've run out of nail polish remover so I can't swatch these just yet, but I will. In the mean time though, here is a picture of the other MO polishes I own:

As you can see, I have a couple of doubles. I adore Beth's Blue and my old pot is half full so re-purchased, and a friend at work admired my Vintage Pink nails a few months back, so I added it to my basket as a cheeky gift for her :) I was going to re-purchase the 3 in 1 topcoat but I've only recently bought a Barry M one, so I resisted.
I do wish I'd have bought a few more from the car-key collection and a nail art pen. I did add a few other items to my basket but my total came to a little more than I could justify so out they went :(

I'd love to see what other people bought in the sale, I'll swatch the polishes soon and maybe do some NOTD posts.

Too Many Shoes?

Can a girl have too many shoes?

 image from weheartit

I've spent a few hours here and there cleaning my room recently and in every box and every hidy-hole, I seem to find a pair, or a long lost half a pair of shoes lurking.
I don't buy shoes that often (or so I tell myself) but I seem to have acquired a rather large collection that I've totally forgotten about. What makes it worse is that most have never seen the light of day more than once, if ever!

I've been really good this year and put myself on a spending ban when it comes to make up and beauty products. I've been using up all the half bottles of shampoo and conditioner I had lying about and trying out samples from magazines I've collected, which has really shown me how much money I have been wasting when nipping to the shops and picking up things because they're half price, or new.

There are things that I've run out of and had to re purchase, but over all, project "Laura needs to use up all the things she has" has been going really well. I've been reading other blogger's conquests with their "use up" projects and it's been really inspiring and motivating.

Back to the shoes, I tend to have a few pairs of 'everday' shoes that I wear to work which get worn out and replaced every few months so I don't really count these. They're well loved and well used :)
But then there are the many, many pairs of sandals and heels that I buy, forget that I own and then repurchase again and again. The thing is, I don't really get the chance to wear fancy shoes very often, so why I keep fooling myself into thinking I'll get great wear out of these shoes so I MUST buy them, I don't know.
The weather has been rubbish this year, and I'm on my feet all day at work so sandals aren't practical, and I physically can't walk in heels for longer than 3 minutes without getting blisters or sore feet :(
I tend to file away my new shoes for safe keeping, and then forget that I own them, so as I said before, when I do get the chance to go out in heels, off I trot to the shops to buy some, ignoring the fact I have ones sitting in the bottom of a box in my room somewhere.

So this is my plan; to find all the lost shoes I own, and wear them.
Simple
(I hope)

Please tell me i'm not the only one suffering from 'too many shoes' syndrome?
